Leveraging CEO & Staff as Fundraising Champions

Presenter: Joanne Bertsche, Executive Director, The ETHS Foundation.

Time: 11:45am Small Group Networking; 12:00 -1:00pm Program

Venue: ZOOM

Description: Major donors are deeply passionate about our mission and appreciate knowing our organizations in a highly personal way. As development officers, we are well practiced in building relationships with our major donors. However, sometimes it’s even more beneficial to nurture relationships between the donor and our non-fundraising colleagues who interact most closely with our beneficiaries.  With guidance and encouragement, our staff “Champions” can inspire a meaningful major gift and spark a dedicated connection with the donor for many years.

This presentation will include:

  • Customizing our cultivation and “asks” by including non-fundraising staff on our team

  • Identifying staff champions

  • Preparing staff for donor visits

  • Working with the CEO on significant gifts

  • Real case studies

About the Presenter: Joanne’s fundraising career was launched at the Rotary Foundation after returning to the workforce in 2008. Since 2013, she has found deep satisfaction raising funds for the educational Foundation of Evanston Township High School, using a model that integrates alumni giving with non-profit practices. As a PIDN Board member, she credits WIDN and PIDN with shaping her into a fundraising professional.

Membership: Only $55 /year for 10 programs plus other PIDN benefits.

Drop-In: $20 per program ($15 for professionals new to the field)
