Retaining Loyal Donors

Time: 12:00-1:00pm

Venue: Zoom

Program Description: One of the most difficult challenges in fundraising is retaining first-time or infrequent donors. To build a solid fundraising program—and save a lot of time and effort—it’s important to steward new donors and convert them to sustaining supporters. Amy Troppmann is the Senior Director of Direct Appeals and oversees NU Loyal, Northwestern’s giving society that recognizes the thousands of alumni, parents, and friends who make a gift of any size every fiscal year. She and her colleague, Cori Myers, will discuss the benefits of donor-centric stewardship, how to measure success in retaining donors, and the points to consider when implementing a loyalty program, regardless of your organization’s size.

Speaker Bios: Amy started her career in fundraising as a student caller at Stanford University. Over 25+ years, she has broadened her experience to include major gifts and planned giving, but her primary focus is annual giving. She’s been at Northwestern University for the past 12 years managing the mail, email, and phone programs for Northwestern’s undergraduate schools. She takes a data-driven and donor-centric approach to her work.

Cori joined Northwestern University in 2011 after working in the nonprofit sector. In her role, she manages an annual giving calendar that includes soliciting gifts through multi-channel digital fundraising and direct mail. Across Annual Giving, she collaborates with colleagues to ensure messaging and strategy are cohesive across all platforms: email, social, web, texting, personal outreach, and crowdfunding.

Membership: Only $50 /year for 10 programs plus other PIDN benefits.

Drop-In: $20 per program ($15 for professionals new to the field)
